Bronze Buzz

Concerts, Performances and Workshops Galore!

It’s go time for Twin Cities Bronze. We just auditioned in August, and are starting our busy holiday concert season in a week. You don’t want to miss one of the two “Bridging the Seasons” concerts happening Nov. 15 and 16. This concert journey will take you on a great musical adventure through the fall months – with a hint of the holiday season closing out the concert. It will put you in the mood for a great season to follow! Get your tickets online today for Saturday’s concert at 7 p.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church – Eagan or for Sunday’s concert at 4 p.m. at Westwood Lutheran Church - St. Louis Park.

Keep your calendars out, because we have more to fill your schedule. After a two-year hiatus, Doc Severinsen is back playing with and directing the Minnesota Orchestra and Chorale. And that means Twin Cities Bronze is also on the stage at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis as well. These two concerts will have your toes tapping and heart singing along with the traditional Christmas tunes, spiced up with a bit of jazz influence. Get your tickets early – they tend to sell out! Jingle Bell Doc concerts will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21.

And yes, we do have a short break to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with our families. But it will be very short, because on Jan. 10 we want to welcome you to Peace United Methodist Church in Shoreview for our annual Twelfth Night Concert at 7 p.m. Our artistic and music director Amy Maakestad has some fun tricks planned (you don’t want to know what goes on in her brain – it’s scary!) that even the ringers don’t know about yet. She might reawaken the deep sea creatures like The Kraken, or throw in a light show that will have your eyes opening wide in surprise.

Once 12th Night has passed, we take a quick breath before welcoming Debbie Rice for our Mid-Winter Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 31. This workshop is great for individual ringers and choirs. Debbie will be discussing techniques – including some new ones you might want to incorporate in your rehearsal later that spring. Plus, take a new look at score study – Debbie will provide suggestions on how to better understand the music and how each part works to produce a beautiful composition. Registration is open now www.TwinCitiesBronze.org. The price increases in price January 15, so be sure to sign up soon.

So get all these dates scheduled, because we’re getting busy, and you don’t want to miss out on any of the fun.
